How to Upload Your Child's Response

Simple steps to share your child's letter with their historical pen pal

4 Easy Steps

Step 1

Receive Weekly Email

Every Wednesday, you'll get an email with the subject 'Time to share Your Child's response with Character!'

Step 2

Take a Photo

Use your smartphone to take a clear photo of your child's handwritten response. Make sure the writing is visible and well-lit.

Step 3

Click the Link

Tap the link in the email - it will open a mobile-friendly form in your phone's web browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)

Step 4

Upload & Submit

Tap 'Choose File' or 'Upload Photo', select your photo, add any optional notes, and hit submit. Takes less than 30 seconds!

Helpful Tips for Success

Photo Quality Tips

  • Use good lighting - natural light works best
  • Make sure all text is visible in the frame
  • Hold the camera steady to avoid blur
  • Take the photo straight-on, not at an angle

What to Include

  • Your child's complete handwritten response
  • Any drawings or doodles they added
  • Multiple pages if they wrote a lot
  • Don't worry about perfect handwriting!

  • Help us read difficult handwriting
  • Share your child's emotional reaction
  • Mention any questions they asked you
  • Note any historical interests they expressed

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"I can't find the upload link in my email"

Check your spam/junk folder. Add [email protected] to your contacts to ensure delivery. The email arrives every Wednesday after your child's Monday letter.

"The photo upload isn't working"

Make sure you're using a modern web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox). Try refreshing the page and uploading again. If the file is very large, try taking a new photo with lower resolution.

"My child wrote multiple pages"

Take separate photos of each page and upload them one at a time using the same form. You can submit the form multiple times for the same week.

"I submitted but didn't get a confirmation"

You should receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. If not, check your spam folder or try submitting again. Contact support if the problem persists.
